Baylor is in the Elite Eight for the second time in three seasons. The Bears held off Xavier 75-70 to reach Sunday’s South Regional final where they will play top-seed Kentucky, which eliminated Indiana 102-90 behind Michael Kidd-Gilchrest’s 24 points.

It’s top-seed North Carolina against Kansas in a Midwest Regional final that could be found in a lot of the brackets around the country. The Tar Heels survived 23 turnovers to edge Ohio 73-65 in overtime while the Jayhawks eliminated N.C. State 60-57 as Thomas Robinson led the way with 18 points and 15 boards.

Meanwhile…

The top two seeds hook up for a spot in the Final Four today in the East Regional final in Boston. The top-seeded Syracuse Orange, which held on for a 64-63 win over Wisconsin on Thursday night, try their luck against the second-seed Ohio State Buckeyes, a 15-point winner over Cincinnati.

On the other side: A couple of longshots will decide the West Regional in Phoenix. Rick Pitino’s fourth-seeded Louisville Cardinals, the Big East tournament champions, play the seventh-seeded Florida Gators coached by Billy Donovan, who used to be the point guard for Pitino when both were at Providence College.
