This will probably be the shortest blog entry that I ever write but sometimes a picture says a thousand words, with no commentary needed.
We often bash Lebron for his antics but here’s something actually noteworthy and admirable…
Prior to their matchup versus the Detroit Pistons, the Miami Heat posed for a photo wearing team-logo hoodies. Players were speaking out following the death of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black teenager wearing a hooded sweatshirt who was shot by a neighborhood crime-watch volunteer last month in a suburb of Orlando, Fla.
Honestly when I first saw the picture it automatically reminded me of Tommie Smith and John Carlos’ symbolic Black Power photograph from the 1968 Olympics. In addition to the photo several Heat players, including Wade and James, wrote messages saying “RIP Trayvon Martin” and “We want justice” on their sneakers.
By the way the Heat knocked off Detroit 88-73.
Dwyane Wade & LeBron James combined for 41 in the Miami victory.
